You Will Fall in Love With This Girl After Watching Her Dance

Finally another video but this time with more Bollywood ‘masala’ moves and animated expressions (Shahid does it best!) This dance was done out of complete fun; also kept it simple enough for you to pick up the steps if needed.

Originally from Manchester, UK Sonam developed her passion for dance at a young age, imitating her favorite dance sequences from numerous films. She soon began to fuse her love and talent for dance with gymnastics, a strong element within her routines for notable school events. Through her high school’s dance company she was then exposed to the fundamentals of Western styles such as jazz, modern dance and contemporary. During this time Sonam was part of Doonya, a well-established Bollywood dance school located in Washington, DC. Later, she expanded upon her professional study of dance with moderate Kathak and Bharatnatyam training in both the UK and the US respectively. These Indian-classical styles strengthened her grasp on Bollywood dancing, leading her to choreograph for several cultural shows and events in her area. In college, Sonam went on to join Major Definition, a competing Hip-Hop dance troupe along the East Coast. Major Definition pushed her to new heights as a dancer, adding versatility to her style by teaching her different elements of Hip-Hop such as locking, freestyle and house.

Sonam’s craft lies in blending her diverse backgrounds into single, fusion performances that deliver energy and entertainment. Her favorite gateway for dance continues to be a contemporary Bollywood style, which integrates Indian techniques with Western influences. It is the endless combination of varying dance styles that continues to shape her vision and choreographic style. Sonam is now utilising her dance skills as a choreographer and instructor for Bollywood Fusion dance in the Manchester Metropolitan Area + worldwide (via online sessions).
